We all know that West Point is one of the best military academies in the United States. They've trained some of the best generals the country has ever seen and I'm willing to bet, in the years it's been around, some of the best generals the world has seen. But, what I want to know is who are the top five best generals from West Point. From then until now, who are the five best generals to come from West Point?

It's hard determaining who to put on top, Patton or Lee ... but I went with Lee because of the desciveness of the war he fought in.

For some bizzar reason I thought Jackson went to VMI insert him in my number two slot with Albert Sydney Johnston third.

If memory serves me right, Jackson did go to VMI and never went to West Point. Patton went to both.

I had thought the same thing, then I looked it up. He did indeed go to West Point in 1842, had difficulty passing the entrance examines and began studies at the bottom of his class. When he graduated in 1846 he was 17th out of 59 cadets. He didn't begin teaching at VMI until 1851.
