first, i would like to say that im happy a subforum was made for games; it seems that i finally got through to someone with my suggestion from oh so long ago :)
second, i would appreciate it if a mod or admin were to sticky this thread if an when RPGs get off the ground here
third, i feel i need to state exactly what this thread is for and what message board RPGs are, for those who are not already familiar with them
THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD
basically, the RPG Submission Thread is where you submit an idea for an idea for a message board role-playing game (RPG) to see if people will want to join in on it. generally, the rule is that at least 4-6 people aside from yourself must approve of the idea and agree to join in before you can actually make the trhead for it. for example, if i wanted to make a History Crossover RPG--in which different characters from different historical time periods would join forces and fight each other on different sides--i would have to submit the idea itself, come up with a basic set of rules, a setting, and profile setup for that rpg and then wait for 4-6 people to approve of it before i could make two new threads for the RPG and OOC (Out Of Character) discussion. i should also let you know that, in the RPG thread, OOC comments should be put in double-brackets ((like this)) or [[like this]].
ill probably also revise this thread over time when the need arises, just to let everyone know in advance
WHAT ARE RPGs?
"RPG" stands for "Role Playing Game". RPGs in general have been around for a long while in the form of more legit games like Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, and so on. the RPGs that will be implemented here are Message Board RPGs. personally, i think message board RPGs are among the best because they allow for alot more freedom in design and allow you to properly develop your character(as in give them a real personality on your own, instead of it being pre-written like in Final Fantasy or having it as just a flat fighting machine like in Warcraft). additionally, a message board RPG can be about ANYTHING; i myself have made multiple RPGs on another message board that do such things as retell the Jurassic Park films or the Animorphs books, and others have made alternative history Star Wars RPGs in which the Empire wins the war against the rebels and major characters such as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo actually die. another common RPG concept is simply a cross-over of a given genre; one of the best RPGs im participating in is Dark Clouds Gathering, a fantasy crossover rpg, and there was another i used to be a part of that was a Movie Character Crossover RPG that had characters like Optimus Prime, Jack Sparrow, and The Doctor on one side and Anubis(from Stargate), General Grievous, and Darth Vader on the other.
if you have any questions, i will be glad to answer them, because im honestly not sure if i missed anything here
