I ask this as I was commenting on another topic on Chinese and Indian civilizational Goals being the same and made the call that the goal of European civilization is correct phenotype alignment.

Seeing as how the majority on this board happen to be European--I am curious, exactly what would all of you see as the Goal of European civilization?

Awesome
As opposed to all other civilisations, which are obviously war and poverty.

Nobody has defined any goal, but it seems to be generally accepted that what is needed is economic growth.

I feel sure that the memory of the 2 world wars is one of the reasons why there is a political thrust toward unity across Europe.

Philosophically, there is a belief in the sanctity of the individual, that freedom and justice be granted to each and every person. Again, that is partly a legacy of WW2 when individual right were systematically trashed.

What is the goal of any civilisation?

Well The Goal of Indian and Chinese civilizations are to meditate on and execute perfect actions. For example there are many examples in both cultures of Rajas/emperors giving up their kingdoms/empires to go off and meditate and contemplate the above goals as this was seen to be the actual goals of both civilizations, not economic control/wealth/power as this was seen as a intermediary step/steps.

I was wondering what the Europeans themselves feel is the ideal goals of their civilization.

Power? Paradise? Religion?

Do you feel maybe an undefined future goal which should be insured against currently is the goal? Or more simply, is European civilization about survival alone? Immortality? Matching Christianity's reward and punishment thereby allowing your own goals?

Civilizing Europeans? That seems a good plan.

The goal of civilization is to store up an agricultural surplus for use during a future time of famine.

Those are the glaring ones, I would need to go back to the books, but there are many examples.

Just curious - is this accurate?

I think the correct answer (for Continental Europeans, anyway) is safety. They're largely stuck between a rock and a hard place, in the form of two vigorous civilizations in Russia and the Islamic world, and their response seems largely to avert their gaze to far away things and pretend it isn't happening.

Europe is a melting pot of different cultures and mindsets. There are many differences between, North and South, Western, Eastern and Central Europe. Even close neighbours have many cultural differences.
