It looks more like doner kebab. I thought kebabs generally look more like our souvlaki, just bigger. In my city you can find the biggest gyro (doner kebab) of all Greece.

Döner Kebab or Gyro is mostly of fast food.
Nearly anything for the shake of Kebab in Turkish dish are derivation of döner.

The difference in original Iskender kebab is that they use special kind of meat of the calf. Its preperation is different than doner kebab. It isnt fast food, It takes time to prepeare.

Kebabs you would eat in Istanbul are mostly of north mesopotamian gastronomy. It is more complex than doner kebab. They traditionally know how to deal with meat. Kurds and other mesopotamians are magician in this.

Those look lovelly. If I go to Iran one day I will definitelly taste them.

Delicious and popular here :D

Originally, most of the Bakers here were Persians  Now they all are retired, you rarely find them nowadays

But, according to my dad, he says they make the best bread :zany:

I see, thanks. I though that the preperation was as easy as that of doner kebab and gyro:

In Greece many tavernas have two types of kebab, sis kebab and tas kebab, there's chicken kebab as well. Souvlaki isn't included.

Iraqi sammoun: unique to Iraq, this sandwich bread makes the best sandwiches ever. I've been to quite few countries, never tasted better types of bread.

Also, they even make better shawerma bread xD

I'm not sure we can consider Greece as being Middle Eastern without getting into a flame war! :zany:

That's not what the link is about. I read it. It's about Thessaloniki (a Greek city) hosting other cultures. It will host the Middle East culture.

What's the difference between Middle Eastern ..... and Greek .....? Only celtic ..... look different.

Middle East isn't homogeneous, you can find pale ..... from Turkey and Iran, while if you go south you'll find really dark people. In Greece you can find Celtic looking ..... as well as dark Middle Eastern ones.

The hosting isn't a coincidence, it is often said that Thessaloniki has an eastern vibe compared to the capital, Athens, for various reasons (one of them is because more than 50 % of Thessaloniki's population are Anatolian Greeks).

But, I generally like the Khaliji ones (the gulf ones), I'm most familiar with them. Though, ask anyone in the Middle East what .... they like, and they'll say:

"LEBANESE!!!!"
