Looking to read up more and looking for some recommendations! Have a flight soon, so it would be nice to have something to do aboard the plane! Particulary interested in American History of any time period.

I like "Lincoln's Virtues" by William Miller very much. It gives great insight into Lincoln's intellectual and moral life, and is interesting throughout.

It is my understanding "The Personal Memoirs Of Ulysses S Grant'" are considered masterful by a large general readership as well by many historians.Might be worth a glance at your local library.

I'm reading 1776, which is about the Revolution and the Revolutionary War and its an excellent book.
The American Civil by John Keegan is a good introduction to the Civil War.

I would strongly recommend "Battle Cry of Freedom" by James M. McPherson.

It is the best account of the American Civil War and it's prelude that I have ever read.
