In order to stop illegal immigrants from coming into California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas... President Bush has declared that a Great Wall of America shall be built along the US/Mexico border. The wall will be solid concrete 10 feet thick and 20 feet high. Mounted with barbed wire at the top so no one can cross. Will this Great Wall solve our illegal immigration problems or will they find another way around?

If Americans put up a wall, then the immigrants will just dig under it.

The economy of California, would grind to a halt in less than one year, followed by the rest of the country.

None of the rich Beverly Hills residents would have anyone to clean their homes.

If you ask me, which you didn't but I'm gonna tell you what I think anyway, this is gonna be a complete waste of time and money. Concrete is the highest it has ever been. I think it's up to about $85/yd now. Can you inmagine how much freakin' money that would amount to? I think the "Minute Men" were the best thing we had going, but what the hell do I know, at least they were working for free.

I think that they would go by boat to get past the wall by going next to it. Or dig under it like someone else said. That would be denying americas freedom to build a wall though because they wouldn't be able to get to travel as they want to.

Yeah.

I think the economy would be no worse, at least, not in the long run.

Here's my opinion. Most children of illegal immigrants are legal immigrants, so they won't want to have the jobs that current illegals do have. What will happen then?

The best solution is that we make the lazy bums living homeless in the streets of major cities do our labor.

I agree, except about the lazy part, But we could get the people who were put out of jobs into such jobs, and it would almost elminate the unemployment.

I think the Mexicans would find a way around. They would probably go by boat.

Don't laugh. The uniforms worn by Border Patrol guards are made in Mexico. Truth.

And as regards the Great Wall of America, if they build it, I would recommend buying stock in companies that manufacture 21 foot ladders.

The cost is staggeringly out of proportion to the benefit. Smarter solutions, please. Bigass walls didn't help China much either.
