It states that it is in the 26 regions of France but what does this mean?

I know Napoleon was from Corsica from notable Italian ethnicity, but are Corsicans considered French?

They are part of France but they have a strong separatist sentiment, based on Corsican nationalism.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

It's part of France, but that doesn't make it necessarily French. Tis why they are know as Corsicans, but this situation reminds me of Quebecois separatism and whether they should be considered Quebecois or Canadian.

Thanks for the welcome much appreciated.

But from a nationality sense would the people from Corsica be French?

I know ethnically they're Italian.

You might discover that a part of the populace wants independance while the majority simply wants to stay with France cause it's not all that bad. They've been with France for over 200 years now.

So people from Corsica "Corsicans" are considered French?

Awesome
There was another poster by the name of "GeordieHistoryLover" who asked very similar questions - in fact, asked this exact same question in a different form - and was interested in much the same topics, and held much the same views as you do, judging by your posts, HistoryCurious.

You two wouldn't be related, by any chance would you?

I guess they're French in a similar way to how Québécoise are Canadians.
