In North Song, the emperors maybe were focus on building their garden, to build a heaven-like garden cost Song a lot and caused many rebelling.
Of course, all the palace and gardens were ruined by northern invaders.

Awesome
Teehee XD I have a load of questions to ask you maybe in PM later on today because I might spam the forums too much lol :zany:

No - you should ask your questions on the forum, not via PM.

Don't be afraid of asking a lot of questions. Other readers may have the same questions as you, or your questions may get them interested in the subject so, no matter what your question is, it is worth asking in the open. As well as that, other people may well have better answers to offer than I do, I am far from an expert on Japanese history. It just happens to be my main area of interest.

i am late, any tomatos give to me? ;-) i am in holiday, so i can not give picture. north song dynasty have small palace but it have no special name. common be called 大内 da nei, the word only mean it is emperor's palace. in song dynasty, emperor can't easy to build a huge palace if no officials agree about it, because the political system limited his power, and song's emperors don't like to build huge palace too,tai zong have ever want to expand his poor small palace, but people refuse to move their houses so tai zong have to give up. only song huizong build a big garden where named jia shan 家山 or gen yue 艮岳, but is burnt in war of north song ended. although north song have not famous palace but it have the most bigest beautiful ,richest capital , 汴梁 bianliang, in the world in the period.

Apparently Chinese civilization usually made buildings of wood, which sadly don't last long compared to buildings made of stone. That's perhaps the main reason why we don't have any ancient surviving Chinese buildings a few medieval buildings, compared to other civilized places in the world.

chang an is not a palace, chang an is the capital of tang dynasty, the palace of tang dynasty is 大明宫 (da ming palace), china have a famous drama that named 大明宫词(da ming gong ci), means the poem happened in the palace ,very beautiful, it told us the story about a famous princess named 太平 (tai ping), her name means peaceful.

yeap, that is the main reason.

the capital of song dynasty have another special reason , the position is near the yellow river, the river always had a lot of flood in ancient china.
