I'm enjoying it so far. I do wonder if Ragnar will die in this season and if they will keeping going after that. Will Beorn have to pick up where Ragnar left off will Ragnar live and a sort of rivalry between Beorn and Ragnar will develop?
Really wondering what Rollo will end up doing.

It's apparently 20 episodes this season, so... they're probably going to jump forward in time quite a bit.

Have you seen the trailer to the season? It kind of gives away what will happen, granted you need to have some knowledge of viking history to understand how the trailer gives away what will happen in the season. Even in this season Björn looking over a map is pretty indicative of whats going to happen.

Thus far the season has been slow, but understandably so. They are building up the character of Björn, after you know what happens (writing vaguley to avoid spoilers is hard  )

Maybe because he was the bad guy in The Hunger Games? :zany:

I had completely forgotten about him playing in the hunger games.I actually liked him more there.Maybe something in his acting annoys me.He seems a bit dry...Or like he is trying to copy Ragnar's style in the way he talks at least.I think they all talk a bit weird.Maybe it's on purpose to make it seem like they have a ''viking'' accent???

Not before he's got an Heir, a Son :]

I'm not sure if it's needed in the series for him to have a son.

Im sure Rollo will be killed by someone. But I hope they don't actually kill him or Ragnar because they are both huge trolls and I enjoy watching them. Also for some reason I dislike Bjorn.Dunno why....

Have to agree, Black sails is a bit better and overall a very good series.

History spoiler ahead...

The historical Rollo survived until his 70s, and his descendants ruled the Duchy of Normandy. William the Conqueror was a direct descendant.

The TV series sometimes plays fast and loose with history, but given that Rollo is the founder of dynasty of Norman Dukes leading to William the Conqueror, I'd be very surprised if the series kills him off.

I know that but they are trying to merge 2 different stories in the series and that doesn't always work out well.

On a scale of 0 to 5, how historically accurate is it?

Well the historicity of Ragnar cannot be proven, and they have forced the Ragnar/ Rollo familial relationship. Then you have the standard fare of fantastical leather armor, and children and wives being all over the place.

So..

Historical accuracy - 0/ 5
Pure fun entertainment value- 5/ 5

You just have to choose what you are after. I personally believe that it is well acted and really fun, but I wouldn't use it to teach history. Get someone interested in history? Yes. Teach it? No.

I'd rate Black Sails as the far better of the two. Black Sails is better written and acted on the whole.

That isn't to say that Vikings isn't entertaining as well...just that I think it's got a slightly more B-movie quality to it at times than Black Sails, at least if comparing Seasons 2 and 3 of Black Sails to recent seasons of Vikings. Season 1 was a bit weaker.

I agree, I really like Vikings, but Black Sails has grown on me, I really like it and the finale to season 3 was excellent.

I'm on Season 3 episode 7. How much longer will I have to put up with Floki?

I'm on Season 3 episode 2, and even I (okay yes I saw some clips of what Floki does), am tired of him. A wretched jealous little creature.

Well, I hope Ragnar deals with him as appropriately. Floki seriously needs to chill, how he ever managed to have such a sweet woman as Helga, I will never understand.

I hope Ragnar deals with him too. I used to like him. I thought he was kind of funny. But I am so sick of him now. If you like this show. There is another one called The Last Kingdom. So far there's only one season. But, it's really good.

Yeah, he definitely isn't humorous anymore. Thanks for the recommendation, I think I saw that on Netflix, so I will check it out.

Personally I think that Floki is one of the most interesting characters of the cast.He is also symbolic. The opposite of Athelstan. He represents the influence of the old ways on Ragnar.

I like the Floki character as well. It keeps me from asking myself why the Vikings have not looted armor to wear in their raids. These guys should be wearing mail, helmets and many carrying swords and spears by now!

Ragnar is intensely loyal to his friends and family (except for his wives!). The worst thing he could do is save Floki's life and he does! Floki needs to get laid and maybe he will go easier on Ragnar? These Vikings get ambushed too easy!

Floki is neither jealous nor envious, he is a conservative man who keeps traditions, likes traditional way of life. Ragnar is a man of a future, progressive who believes in friendship between people of different origin, beliefs and he doesn't believe in traditional Scandinavian gods, he believes more in himself.
