Why are Turkey and Syria bickering?

Why is Syria and Turkey gearing up to go at it? what actually started these rapid developements? is it just turkey trying to flex its muscles to the western nations to show how modernised their army has become?

By the way, i know nothing of this and i am not implying anything so dont think i lean to 1 side or the other

Dont really watch news, its fully of western politically correct rubbish, i just hear it on the radio sometimes, last i heard was a turkish jet was shot down for flying in syrian territroy but the turks claimed it was in international airspace (i dont see why syria would shoot down a turkish jet if it wasnt in its territory, thats just asking for trouble) and then turkey deployed AA guns on the border and Self propelled artillery.

The Turkish plane identified itself as carrying no weapons. So in other words Syria knew it was not armed. I think the Turks got really angry because Syria shot at a second plane that was looking for the pilots. The pilots are still not found by the way.

Why was Turkey flying around them in the first place? planes get shot down all the time like that american pilot in Russia but there wasnt any preparations for war over that?

The Turkish plane identified itself as carrying no weapons.

A recon aircraft getting information about your defenses IS A WEAPONS PLATFORM. The weapons on it were most likely one of the most deadly in warfare, a camera.

Just what Syria and Turkey stand to gain by a war I have no clue.

America ordered his puppet Erdogan to mess with Syria. It's funny how turkish media is doing propaganda against Assad. If America orders, Turkey will fight with Syria but if she doesn't order, they wont fight. Turkey has very good economy right now so attacking Syria would ruin everything... But of course if Erdogan wants to keep his throne he has to obey his master...

Turkey's geopolitical interests include restricting Iran's influence away from the Persian Gulf, and in Turkey's backyard (Lebanon; the littoral of the Mediterranean). Syria's regime has been a client of (and now depends for its existence upon) Iran.

Despite opinion to the contrary, Turkey and Israel have quite similar geopolitical interests (and have had for decades). One of those is reducing Syrian (and Iranian) influence in Lebanon. The weaker (or more compliant) Syria becomes, the better for Turkey and Israel.

Incidentally, the Russians don't see it that way. Syria is their lone remaining area of influence in the Middle East since the USSR went down the drain. That is why they profess support for Assad. Russian influence there, with the current Syrian regime, also can also assist in Moscow's influence with Iran. The Russians have their own reasons to have as much influence in Tehran as they can - and it isn't because they are BFFs.

Before shooting a plane you have to give a warning and the F-4 was not hiding its identity. Syria is wrong but I think Turkey acted adequately by not starting a war.

Yep this is pretty much the truth, except Turkish economy is not that good.

Why the bitterness for? and because the western media is corrupt with political correctness, people on the forum, not so much.
